Swedish daily SvD wins 8 awards in Best of News Design 2010.03.23 On SND´s annual competition Best of News Design the Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet won eight awards. The makeover of the newspaper won most prices but also the specific weekend and sports section got awards. SvD´s News Designer Anna Thurfjell says that they are using the design to get people to open the newspaper and engage them to read more. She also says that Scandinavian news design stands out internationally. Lena K Samuelsson, Editor-in-Chief adds: The design is important and a major part of a newspaper´s expression, it´s by the design you get a first impression. Through the design we have successfully gained both higher circulation and new readers. SvD has a compact (tabloid) and stitched format, like all Swedish daily newspapers.
